Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy first used in the 1980’s. It has proven to be highly effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD which sometimes develop after individuals experience traumatic events. Certified in CPT, The Moore Resilient Group therapists deliver therapy over 12-15 sessions and help you learn how to successfully challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to trauma. Clients learn to create a new understanding and conceptualization of the trauma which reduces its ongoing negative effects on their current life.

Cognitive Processing Therapy is strongly recommended by the APA Clinical Practice Guideline for the Treatment of PTSD. The Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies fully endorse CPT and suggest it as a first-line therapy for PTSD.
